Wyoming Seminary Lower School

Has been a wonderful experience for our kids. Teachers and staff made extra efforts to make our kids feel welcome. Education and academics is excellent within all disciplines. Students are encouraged to participate in art, music and theatre. Many athletic opportunities exist including basketball, lacrosse, field hockey, swimming, and others. Strong PTA that is very involved with school programs. No equivalent for local public school education in northeast PA.

As a parent of an elementary school student, I'm not sure the teachers are focused on the right things at this school. The values seem to be off, with more emphasis on rote memorization than critical thinking and reading skills. And the administrators leave much to be desired as well; parent relations are certainly not a focus. Go public. You'll be glad you did!

We are very happy with the education my daughter is receiving at Wyoming Seminary. She is new to the Sem experience and is in 7th grade. Although she has homework, it is not excessive ( 5 hours a night??no way!). I feel the teachers are very caring and want their students to do well. Since my daughter is new to the school , the teachers have been very communicative me with about her adjustment. Teachers are very responsive ( via email) to any questions/ concerns I have had thus far. My daughter also plays a sport and I feel that the teachers and other students are very supportive. It is not unusual to see teachers ( who don't even have children on the team) at games to support their students. Overall, a very positive experience so far.
