I would not recommend this school to any parent who is serious about education. From the top down there is a serious lack of organization and discipline. Very expensive school for a very cheap educations. To much drama within the diocese to have the kids 100% focused on anything. Teachers are only there for the money don't enjoy kids. Not at all recommended

As a parent of two students, I have always considered quality of education as a primary factor in rating a school. I would not recommend Holy Redeemer High School. The curriculum which was unsurpassed at Bishop Hoban has been watered down. Constant interruptions are taking place with regard to class
... Read more time. Too many Masses disrupt the teaching process. Teachers have little if any input in curriculum decisions and scheduling of classes. If you are looking for a neighborhood school and are just concerned with social activities and religion, you may be able to tolerate this school. I don't feel we are getting are money's worth. It is kind of sad that Bishop Hoban had to close. This is a hard time for students, teachers, and parents. Although all of the troubles this year this is honostly a great institution. Please consider going here.

The restructuring of Bishop Hoban into Holy Redeemer High School has been a difficult transition. ... Read more implemented without my knowledge, making 5.0 the highest GPA. Since a 4.0 scale is standard, this leaves the students at a disadvantage, lowering their GPA 20% below the standard. This is completely unfair, especially to the seniors who are applying for college. Although I have great respect for the dedicated teachers and administrators, I believe the restructuring took a major toll that will be difficult to repair. From my understanding, since the restructuring, there are teachers teaching subjects they are not qualified to teach! Unless serious changes are implemented, I am sad to say that I wouldn't recommend this school. Read less

Holy Redeemer is the rebirth of a educationally strong but financially challenged Archdiocese of Scranton School district. My daughter had attended Bishop O'Reilly since her freshman year. I credit the teachers and administrators of O'Reilly with helping my daughter find herself and excel academically.

Read more During a very stressful time for my daughter the school also worked closely with my us to ensure she was able to continue to progress through her school year while being very sensitive to the difficulties we faced. I hav met the new administration for Holy Redeemer and have great respect for the new school and for their ability and commitment to carry over their exemplary efforts. With the financial benefits this merger offers I can only see great things for students of Holy Redeemer for years to come. Read less

My daughter just transferred to Hoban. I am extremely satisfied with the school. The academics are just as good and I especially like the different track of classes. The school spirit is so much stronger. The sports are great and the kids are too. She said to me that she didn't realize how unhappy

For the most part, the academic environment of bishop hoban is much more rigorous than that of other schools in the area. however, there are some issues that need to be addressed. funding for extracurricular activities beyond football and swimming is extremely limited. Bishop Hoban is the best school in the area hands down! Hoban has one of best academics and students in the state. ... Read more students and every other school is that the students are 'called to a higher standard.' You'll see it in sporting events, community service, and anywhere a hoban student can be found. Hoban students are being taught values and how to live as respectable adults. The community aspect is even greater at this school. At hoban, the cool thing to do is to be involved in everything.
