The college entry program is one of the strongest virtues of this school, having incredible connections with the leading schools across the nation and assisting each student through the application process. I attended Westtown for my junior and senior years after 2 years at a top public school. The experience was night and day. We love the environment and the challenging education. The teachers encourage free thinking and all of the students feel confident being an individual. My daughter feels that her teachers and all of the students are her extended family.

The Lower Schools Academic programs have improved over the past four years. The Science program is still fairly weak. the Math program is still behind the area public school but is comprehensive and complete. Reading and writing seems to be their emphasis, but still of behind area public schools

This school has become highly competitive to the detriment of its students. Any child who is not a great academic student is lost in the system. Any child who is not a top athlete will sit on the bench. Artistic students are not valued. The teachers are mediocre at best, and the faculty turnover has

Westtown has been great for fodcusing my oldest son on reading (which he loves now) and creating an intelectual curiosity in him. He loves Westtown and feels safe and secure there. My youngest has made it his second home. We do not plan on keeping them there through high school because of the requirement

Our child had a reading problem which became obvious to us at the same time that the school's report stated that the reading level was 'on grade'. The Principal resisted our request for further testing which, when it finally took place, showed that the reading level was actually 1 1/2 yrs. below grade.
... Read more Despite our taking the problem to Westtown's headmaster, since then cooperation from the school has been minimal and in some cases counterproductive. As a result our child is leaving Westtown to enroll in a school which will focus on getting reading skills back up to standard where all other studies already are. We are also removing our youngest child from Westtown since we do not want to risk another incident like the first. Read less

Advanced Placement
AP classes are college-level classes offered at the high school level. Once a student completes an AP class and passes a final comprehensive examination conducted by the College Board, the student earns college credit for the course. Adult Education Classes
Programs offering GED or equivalent courses for adults within regular schools, whether classes are held during evening or daytime schedules.
English as Second Language
English language classes for students whose first language is not English.
