It is my quiet opinion that some of these supposed positive (anonymous) reviews are so written that the reader may be left with a negative impression rather than a positive one. Since my child no longer attends this school, I feel as though I may freely speak my mind. ASA started as a good school and
... Read more was dedicated in its noble cause; to preserve and propagate the Armenian language and culture. Unfortunately the current administration and school board have sidestepped this mission. There is sufficient lack of discipline in the older grades. Sadly the once nurturing Pre-K and kindergarten have also succumbed to mediocrity. With reference to the prior post: '...you get what you pay for', I would add that money cannot solve the mounting problems this school faces. The solution is to rework the infrastructure and rebuild the academic foundation it once had. Read less

I agree with the previous poster that 'you get what you pay for', and that the school works for some families. However, the early school years are formative, and the inadequacies and damages can be critical and long-lasting. In my observation early childhood education at ASA is focused on producing kids

By fourth grade, the academics offered at ASA are not rigorous, and the early aptitude kids achieve does not get built upon. Essentially, kids graduate ASA lacking both academically and socially. I like the school. It's not the best for everyone but it's not the worst either. It's cheaper than the local catholic school and the kids try to learn another language. I'm keeping my kids there for the Kindergarden and first grades and then we'll take it year by year. I don't really know what parents

You get what you pay for in many situations and in my opinion and experience this school is not elite, and they cater to the armenian student. It works for the families that beieve in the school's mission. My kids are young and they're doing ok. I don't love everything the administration does but I have basic expectations. It would be nice to have more organization and less dependence on volunteers, but that's about the only minus I'd give it. Read less

My child attended Montessori at ASA. All children resist school to a point, but when the resistance gets worse and not better as time goes by, then as a parent it's my job to step in and figure out why and what I and the administration can do to improve things. This requires an administration that is

But as a parent, my first responsibility is for my child's well-being and education. Perhaps as more folks start utilizing other options, the principal and admin will finally start listening. I'm a graduate of this school, and I did send my children several years ago and I was very disappointed. Many of our expectations were not met. The princ. and adm. were not straight forward in sharing what I would consider important information with parents. For example, when the (next) grade teacher

By the end of the year, in May I still had no clue as to whom would be teaching my child in Sept. ony three months away. The whole 'avoiding' me or having a desk mom call me to say they'll be in touch when they're not busy didn't speak well for the principal. Teachers are important and I needed to know who was going to be teaching my child. Anyway, that's just one example. I now realize this is the usual way adm. handled most issues. Read less

I pulled my children from the school because they were not really challenged or thriving after grade 3. The math and science classes were not up to par. I was just forwarded this forum and site. As a father, I appreciate how kids in this school can remain 'kids' without the usual peer pressure to behave beyond their years. I find the academics to be strong, and the small class size a real benefit. I don't personally speak or read Armenian, but I think tlearning a second language from their
