Having gone through a nightmare with a nearby public school in the past, what my child has found this year at Wyoming Seminary by comparison is a nurturing, encouraging, academic utopia. She is in a school where she is encouraged to do well academically (rather than being ridiculed by other students
... Read more for it, as she was at her public school). She is not ashamed to participate in class now. She is thriving and happy. Students are held to a code of conduct as well and you would be hard pressed to find that at her previous school. It is VERY difficult for me to come up with tuition, but I will continue to do so for as long as I can, just so she can continue benefitting from this school. Read less

Although a Sem education is better than most of the local public schools, I do not feel my younger children are getting the education my older child received. The newer parents may not feel the difference, but it is definately not that warm and fuzzy place it was. The education, social and athletics

The lower school community is not the cohesive unit it was - I think it's time for the powers to be look introspectively before a mass exodus of students is realized. Definately no longer worth the tuition - other local private schools have caught up with sem at more resonable tuition rates. It would be ineresting to gauge the attrition rates at the lower school in conjunction with those at the other local private schoold. A story may be told by those numbers! Read less

I'm an 8th grade student and I've been going to the Lower School my whole life. I think they stress academics waaaaaaaaaaaay to much and that they just don't understand that not everyone is a good student. I'm not learning much except in History class. Its just too academic and is not student athlete

My daughter is an average student struggling with the challenging academics that are on par with high school, although she is in sixth grade. There is a math clinic twice a week free of charge available to any student, so I am puzzled why the previous reviewer is paying for something. The arts and sciences
... Read more are excellent and she is exposed to more in depth study here than at any other public or private school in the area. We are hard pressed to come up with the tuition, but it is worth it. Other than field hockey for girls and basketball and soccer for boys, there aren't many sports offereings at the middle school level, but the area has many independent leagues that students can join. The academics were great but if you are not the 'perfect' student you are really not wanted. Extra help is available for a price, besides the already ridiculous tuition. Not a school for the athlete. Unless you count field hockey. I pulled my kids out because I could no longer rationalize the outrageous

The academic progrms are challenging and rigorous. Music, art, dance, gym, library are given on a weeking basis. Parent Association is very involved.

Advanced Placement
AP classes are college-level classes offered at the high school level. Once a student completes an AP class and passes a final comprehensive examination conducted by the College Board, the student earns college credit for the course. AP classes are specific and not to be confused with other higher-level classes such as honors classes.
Before/After School

A school or program within a school that provides services and training to students with moderate to severe mental and/or physical disabilities.
Adult Education Classes
Programs offering GED or equivalent courses for adults within regular schools, whether classes are held during evening or daytime schedules.
English as Second Language
English language classes for students whose first language is not English.
