Grove City Christian School

Our experience at Grove City Christian has been great from day one. My daughter started there in the 7th grade and was struggling with Math and Science at her previous school. The teachers have used projects that tap into her artistic side to teach her math and science and she is really enjoying it. I appreciate the faith based approach that is encouraging and uplifting instead of doom and gloom. They teach that life is a journey and we are bound to make mistakes, but to learn and live in Christ. We were on the fence on if we could afford the school but we would never go back now. She has found where she belongs.

My child has attended GCCS since kindergarten, she just finished her sophomore year. I was compelled to write this review after reading a 1 star review where the parent said that their child’s ACT score dropped 2 points after two years of attending high school at GCCS. My child took the Pre-ACT last fall at the start of 10th grade and scored a 26. She took the actual ACT (independently outside of school) in the spring and scored a 30. Up 4 points, well above “average”. The school is excellent, I have nothing but praise for the teachers and administration. As with most schools, I believe, you get out of the school what you put into it.

We have had a great experience with GCCS. Administration, teachers and coaches are invested in helping the students grow academically and spiritually, being prepared for college and beyond.

GCC is NOT a place to send your child for high school. After attending public schools K-8, my child took the ACT and scored "college ready" with a score of 23 overall. After attending GCC for 2 full years, my child took the ACT again and scored a 20, dropping considerable in math and science. On a social note, this is not the place to send your child if they haven't already attended their entire school career. My child was bullied and harassed daily by students and teachers. The principal "deals with" incidents but nothing is ever done.You are much better off to trust in public schools than jeopardize your child's social and academic well-being.

GCC has nice facilities, a friendly office staff, but isn't the place for a student who has any type of difficulties. Especially If they didn't start there in their early years. They aren't interested in bringing in new students. We were very disappointed in the inflexible ways of teaching and lack of formative assessments. I don't recommend this school unless your child can fit into the "Stepford child" mold.
