... Read more to work for it! I wouldn t want it any other way. I enjoyed the challenges I had to overcome in some of my classes, mostly because I had to do some critical thinking. The extracurricular activities are well organized and fun. Participating in an extracurricular activity even pushes you to do well in your studies. You have to keep good grades to be eligible to play or participate. They keep a close eye on the students by doing random drug testing. Read less

I went through this school system from K-12. Many of the problems I had early on stemmed from persons other than teachers in elementary school. I was a horrible student. I literally hated school. But what it comes down to with Western Reserve is the academic level and willingness of the staff to help
... Read more the students. Many teachers during my time there set the seed for my success today. They say you don't use any of the things you learn in high school in real life, but I have had to use everything from math to proper literacy in order to succeed. It has taken me many years but I owe the credit to those men and women in this school system. I think this was a great school. I learned so much there. I was in the OWA program and also the ROTC. It really was nice! The teachers are terrific for the most part. They taught me how to read, write and do other things the proper way. The only bad thing was the sports programs. They don't offer enough
... Read more sports. I was interested in Golf, Tennis, Chess Club, Swimming and many more that were not offered. Also the transportation is top of the line. ... Read more pressure, leadership, deadlines, accountability for your actions. These are things I deal with everyday in the advertising world, and with most other jobs. Science, Math past the 6'th grade, History, I never use them. But the other things you learn at a school this size you will. Reputation means so much in the real world. The school is good sized and is in a good neighborhood. There are just not enough different classes and choices offered to the students. As a former student, I believe that a large amount of the teachers do not give the extra attention to students that are having a difficult time with the subject. I always wished my teacher would take me aside and offer some extra help. Very few teachers offer one on one help for students with problems.
... Read more If a student trust a teacher enough to tell them he or she has a problem then the teacher should try to arrange time for that student. I am aware that teachers are very busy, but so are many students. And if a problem, either at home or in school, is effecting a student than the teacher being confied in should help as much as possible. As far as a principal goes, I was never very happy with any of the principals in the 4 years that I was in high school. I was very impressed with the principal in 1995. The only thing that I can thank the principal for was block scheduling. I noticed that it gave more one on one with the students and teachers, and it gave more time for understanding and going over material learned in class. Over all I can say that I was not entirely impressed with the staff in the school. However, I was impressed with the enthusiasm some teachers had, the cleaniness of the school, and the disipline actions of the principal. Other than that I was very disipointed how little the staff gets involved with students that are in the shadows of the classroom. P.S. Sometimes the kid in the corner is the one most in need of the front row...meaning...the kid that looks like he is alone is in most need of someone showing him he is alive. I would know. Advanced Placement
AP classes are college-level classes offered at the high school level. Once a student completes an AP class and passes a final comprehensive examination conducted by the College Board, the student earns college credit for the course. Before/After School
