If you are considering sending your kids to Seven Hills, listen to what the students say about the school, in addition to what the parents say. I am what you may call a 'lifer'- I have been going to Seven Hills since kindergarten and I am now a rising senior. I went to Lotspeich for elementary school,

I know that the education that I have received at Seven Hills will fully prepare me for college and life after that. I would like to offer a piece of advice to potential students/parents- visit and then decide what you think. The feel of the campus and the community is what makes Seven Hills so special. Read less

I attended Seven Hills for fourteen years. While I love the friends I made and am gracious that my parents decided to put so much money into my education, I wish I could of grown up in a more cultured environment. An environment more inclusive of the performing and fine arts and a wider breath of subjects
... Read more Anthropology and Sociology. When I attended Seven Hills(which was not long ago) minorities were always scarce. And the few minorities that were recognized were recognized after making achievements high above the standard. I found that students and teachers alike both struggled to recognize difference in ethnicity, class and interest in an open and constructive manor. I was ever out wordily offended, but when I think back to some of my experiences at Seven Hills I realize how naive I was. Ultimately, I felt unappreciated and am currently pursuing my interests outside the Academic field. Read less

I have two daughters that currently attend the Seven Hills Upper School, and they absolutely love it. The teachers are phenomenal...I don't know where else in Cincinnati you will find a teacher that built an electric car. Teachers are sensitive to their needs and are always available for outside help.

For those who say that the staff lack the 'interest or expertise to accommodate gifted students' obviously has not experienced the staff. Every teacher that I have encountered, (which is most of them, considering I have a boy as a senior and a girl as a junior, both with different strengths), has a great joy and passion for their job, and are highly qualified. I would HIGHLY recommend Seven Hills for your children. Read less

As a recent graduate and a current undergrad at an Ivy League university, I absolutely loved my experience at Seven Hills. I am sorry to hear that people have had subpar experiences, but I graduated with an excellent education and a network of friends that I would not trade for the world. Yes, the school

I have compared experiences with my peers at college and haven't found anyone who enjoyed there elementary and highschool experiences as much as I did. Additionally, I had better SAT and AP scores than most students who attended expensive private schools in New York City and on the East Coast. Stop asking what parents what they think - talk to the students who attend! We love it! Read less

I relocated my family to enroll my child for high school. This proved to be an inpenetrable group of educators and parent groups. Everything is their way or no way. For an institution of advanced ideas we were disappointed in the lack of student experience with technology at the high school level.
... Read more This school required repitition of course work that had already been completed with A+ marks. This environment promotes the choice of their 'power of administration' over the accomplishments/needs of a student or family. The administration perpetuates gender bias with the attitude that 'boys will be boys' and young ladies carry the sole responsibility for the misconduct and advances that the aforementoned boys impose. We remain disconnected and disappointed in this experience. Read less

Seven Hills is known as 'the best school in Cincinnati,' but our experience at Doherty left this emperor scantily clad. In particular, I strongly caution any parents of gifted children. The facilities are lovely, and the other families were friendly, but most everything of substance was lacking.
... Read more One of the teachers (since retired) was very harsh with the children. The others were better intentioned but clueless with respect to our DD's advanced abilities. Head & counselor were uninformed about meeting the needs of the gifted. The head told us that the school emphasizes group activities over individual accomplishments, and that we wanted more differentiation than the school gave, which was funny in a bad way as we had chosen the school because the admissions director had sold us on the school's ability to differentiate. I hear it was better 20 years ago, but now it's just cruising on its reputation. Read less

I used to attend Seven Hills. In fact, I wen there for my entire life. That is approximately fifteen years of education, and I would not trade any of it for the world... Seven Hills genuinely prepared me for college, and I am certain that they did a better job than any private school in the area would. As another commentee reported, it is like a community. Seven Hills was an amazing experience overall and I am blessed that my parents awarded me the opportunity to be a life-long student and member of such a loving, caring community. Read less

My son has been at Seven Hills since Kindergarten. He is going into 5th grade. We are very happy with Seven Hills.
