My son attended Fairview for 2 years. We had a lot of negative issues with his Kindergarten teacher. As a 1st grader his learning greatly improved. We are no longer live in Cincinnati, but I would say that Fairview is a wonderful School, and I LOVE that it is a bilingual school. I might add, that I too

Fairview is a great school for so many reasons. Children at this school learn German starting from day one. Each child is immersed in the language for at least 30 minutes a day. By the time they get to second grade, they learn not only German, but they also are working on subjects like Math and Science
... Read more in German. What makes this especially wonderful is the diversity of the school. There are children from a variety of racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Out of this diversity comes a very strong school spirit: one that values excellence, creativity, and community. The children work to raise money for their field trips. The parents are very active partners in raising money for the school's programs and for materials. The teachers are dedicated to the children's success. When many schools struggle to provide kids with the basics, this school, thanks to the efforts of the community of children, parents, and teachers, is able to provide a top notch educational experience, where students learn a foreign language, routinely write books, learn about the arts and music, play chess, soccer, and run races. We couldn't be happier with Fairview. Every child should be able to attend a school like this. Read less

I have two children at the school and have had an excellent experience. The teachers are great but one of the other assets of Fairview is the families/parents. They are very involved in their children's lives and education. One of the things that makes Fairview a great place is parental involvement.

Band really good and orchestra oustanding. My children didn't actually learn German, but normal coursework was fine. Very claustrophobic--not enough chairs. Best in earlier grades.

We have a fourth grader and kindergartener attending this year. Fairview is a German language magnet school with a very strong academic focus and fine arts focus, especially in music and the arts. The incredibly dedicated level of parent involvement, and welcoming of such by the staff, was a real draw.
... Read more Fairview is consistently high in academic ratings locally and state wide, which is incredible when considering that German instruction is taking place in the curriculum as well. German is taught aurally, orally, then children learn to write and read German by first and second grades. Once concepts are mastered in English, they are reinforced in German classes, in math, science, social studies, etc. There are more opportunities in sports, clubs, 'gifted' children's classes, and other interest groups after school than can be enumerated here, but I heartily encourage parents who want a diverse, challenging educational experience to apply here.
