We open-enrolled our two sons at West last year and could not be happier. The principal welcomes parent involvement and initiative, and the teachers I have encountered do as well. You are your child's advocate, and personality clashes between children and teachers will happen. Work with the school to ensure that your child's needs are met -- they will work with you. If your child's teacher isn't interested in parental involvement, there's always PTO. Ours is an active and vital organization that embraces participation at all levels. I agree with the first review. Some teachers don't seem to enjoy their jobs, or children for that matter. There are several reasons we say this (too many to list). Basically, our child had a personality clash with the teacher and trouble started the first week of school and didn't end until the last

We were there several times trying to find out more information and no one wanted to communicate and keep us in the loop (we were not alone, other parents had the same problems we did). Parents who wanted to be involved in their child's school life and communicate seemed to be looked upon as a nuisance. It caused us to look around for alternatives to this school. SO glad we got out!
