Read what parents are saying about St John The BaptistThe church is beautiful and the priests and others church staff are really a lovely group of people. Pre-k through second grade are a great experience but after that it’s a nightmare. The 3rd grade felt more like a prison than a catholic school. Bullying is encouraged and never stopped or handled at all. The school needs a new principal and it needs to create a safer environment for the children. Recess consists of a square of blacktop with no seating for the girls and a small fenced in parking lot with basketballs for the boys. That’s right, the boys at least had an activity but the girls only have blacktop and for some strange reason the genders are always kept separated at recess but kept together for gym class. The school is dark and outdated. The cafeteria is smaller than a cheap studio apartment. Holidays aren’t celebrated after like 2nd or 3rd grade. I would not recommend this school beyond 2nd grade.
Posted by a community member on 12/13/2023My daughter is in second grade here since pre-k and she loves it. It has a great community feeling. The kids are all great friends with each other which puts a moms mind at ease as far as bullying goes. The teachers are great in our experience. They always reach out when there’s a problem or if your child is struggling. My daughter fell behind last year because of a death in the family but her teachers really worked hard to get her caught up with the rest of her class and she did very quickly, for that I am grateful. We love it here
Posted by a parent on 9/7/2023I have two kids attending St John's school and I would say they do an excellent job. The emphasis is certainly on learning which is great but they also teach the kids good behavior and give very good religious instruction. The pupil/teacher ratio is excellent and discipline is maintained but in a controlled manner.
Posted by a parent on 1/18/2022Don’t send your child here if they have any issues they will break your heart, as I well know

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAs a parent, I feel that there isn't nearly enough parent involvement since covid. All of my friends have days where they are able to go to their children's school and volunteer , or to read to their class. (children as old as 4th grade). That doesn't happen here, which makes me think that they have more to hide. On several occasions I've driven by the school during recess and saw zero supervision. Assistants were either talking to one another or looking at their phones. Twice I saw strangers on the OTHER side of the fence talking to my child and other children, it's completely unsafe. The language that the teachers and TA's use with the students isn't appropriate at most times. I've been teaching for over 12 years, and no matter how stressed I was or how bad my day was going, I would never speak to a child in my class, they way that my child and his classmates have been spoken to. They don't do anything to promote kindness amongst their peers. No assembly, or kindness week/ month. I really wanted this school, and now I regret my choice.Parent Review1y ago - School 13

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI am very disappointed at Rosemarie Ann Siragusa and its principal. My 4 YEAR OLD SON was bullied by another student in the class. The other student physically assaulted my son. He choked him and went as far as spitting on my son. I complained to the teacher and nothing was done except a meeting with the teacher. I am beyond disgusted by how me and my son was treated. Grade is pre K just FYIParent Review5mo ago - School 17

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageEver since our principle Mr. Brian entered the school , carnivals never happened again. Next, the school bearly has any events going on which really makes it even more bland then it already is. Also another problem i have with this school is that another bathroom has a broken sink. Next the school had so many kids that a lot of the school students had to be taught on the floor, which is not ideal. Finally, you shouldn't go to this school because it only supports K-8 which is sad because just when your kid is in 7th Grade they already have to go to another school. Another issue is fights, many kids have been RKO'ing each other and doing many things, the school really didn't do much of a effect about it. I have a suggestion about what other school you can go to that supports your child's endeavours is School 32, but you may want to read my review on that one.-Former Student of School 17Other Review4y ago - Scholastic Academy For Academic Excellence

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageOne of the worst schools in the UK most probably. My daughter has been attending this school since Reception and the biggest mistake I did was send her to secondary school here. She is now approaching Year 10 and the level of education is appalling. On top of this, the school has been given a Requires Improvement by Ofsted.Extremely high staff turnover and even the Head teacher has left and she was only in the school for 1 year!No homework, no support from any of the teachers. The teachers don't test the student's understanding before moving on to the next subject.Student's lack motivation coming here. Newham needs to see what is going on in this school and do something ASAP.So many unhappy parents and unhappy students.School doesn't listen to our thoughts. Everything gets swept under the carpet. No way on earth would I recommend this school.Parent Review7mo ago - School 23
