Great school. In-laws went there, my husband and I, and our two children. Great chances for students to take AP classes and apply to college

The education you receive here is what you make of it. On the positive end there are enough course levels for students to seek what is right for them. However, there is essentially no guidance. The counselors would prefer to send perfunctory emails than help your child. Many students here fail courses, ...  Read more

Nyack High School is a social mecca for teens, with limited supervision. The 'open' policy allows the students to leave campus, which works for some students, but not all. It is a great school for motivated students that find the process easy, but there are many distractions, noisy classrooms and some ...  Read more

I have two children that have graduated and one that is a sophomore at NHS. All three lack basic reading and creative writing skills. I have spent thousands on tutors and SAT preperation classes. My youngest daughter and her friends speak daily of the fights and thefts that take place in the school. ...  Read more

My son is in his freshman year at NHS so we haven't had much experience. Most of his teachers seem to be great. They are strong and interesting and very open to the students. I think the honors classes allow my son to be challenged appropriately. There are plenty of activities and all the students ...  Read more

Not all it is cracked up to be.The class rooms are quite noisy which makes it difficult to take tests. The math regent scores where very low compared to the other schools in the district. It is very hard to get educational improvements for the schools because the senior citizens come out in hoards to ...  Read more
