. Thought I had done my homework on schools for my high schoolers. I was wrong. There is a lot of bulling at Unionsprings. Kids are mean. They have a bulling siminar in the auditorium. What a joke. Band is a joke, the director cant motivate the kids or they will quit band. Music is super easy not challanging.
... Read more The kids did not learn anything. A total loss of a year at school. We moved and they are being challaged again. Lots of poor families, no organized competative sports, anyone can join any sport, anytime. No air conditioning, the heat is on high and the windows are open. It is small town school for small minded students. In Ny you only need two yrs of math! Thats crazy. So glad we moved. Read less

* In 2011-2012 New York used the New York State Assessments to test students in grades 3 through 8 in English language arts and math, and in grades 4 and 8 in science. The results for English language arts and math are displayed on GreatSchools profiles and the science results will be added when they are released in the Fall of 2013. The tests are standards-based, which means they measure how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of New York. The goal is for 90% of students to meet or exceed grade-level standards on the tests.

AP classes are college-level classes offered at the high school level. Once a student completes an AP class and passes a final comprehensive examination conducted by the College Board, the student earns college credit for the course. Vocational and/or technical courses offered within a comprehensive school, usually a senior high school.
Special Education Classes
A school or program within a school that provides services and training to students with moderate to severe mental and/or physical disabilities.
Adult Education Classes
Programs offering GED or equivalent courses for adults within regular schools, whether classes are held during evening or daytime schedules.
English as Second Language
English language classes for students whose first language is not English.
