I love my school...its so fun and we learn so much. I feel that this is the reason why I am ready for high school because of these wonderful teachers.

I am a 7th grader in I.S. 49, science & tech 710.MY name is M. I think I. S. 49 is a great school. It offers a magnet program for highly motivated students. It has great afterschool programs, & the security and the teachers are beoming more strict. The teachers are always there to help the students.

I.S.49 has a very bad report card and is in a terrible location.My son goes there and thank god he will be graduating this year .My sons class has goos kids that want to learn and kids with behavioral issues.I'm an involved parent in my sons school . I call the school when i can't make it for any meetings

Read more with teachers or to find out info from them about my sons progress in all subjects .I wish more parents were involved in their childs schooling .I feel some teachers care and aren't there for just a check and then they are those that could care less about a student.The school also needs some more police presence around the surrounding streets during dismissal. This school is so good. I'm a 7th grader in science & tech in magnet. The only bad thing about it some students but the school its self is so fun. The teachers are the best, you can really connect with them.And you can make some cool friends. It is safe so now no kids are in the hallways.

* In 2006-2007 New York used the New York State Assessments to test students in grades 3 through 8 in English language arts and math, in grades 4 and 8 in science and in grades 5 and 8 in social studies. The 2006-2007 results for English language arts are displayed on GreatSchools profiles. Math results will be added after their release by the New York State Education Department. Advanced Placement
AP classes are college-level classes offered at the high school level. Before/After School
"Extended day" programs where the school day is extended before and after school to accommodate working parents. These programs should not be confused with common after school clubs or athletic activities.
Gifted and Talented

visual and performing arts, special talents in visual art, music, dance, drama, or other related studies;
psychomotor ability, such as practical, spatial, mechanical, and physical skills.
Vocation/Technical Curriculum
Vocational and/or technical courses offered within a comprehensive school, usually a senior high school.
Special Education Classes
A school or program within a school that provides services and training to students with moderate to severe mental and/or physical disabilities.
Adult Education Classes
Programs offering GED or equivalent courses for adults within regular schools, whether classes are held during evening or daytime schedules.
English as Second Language
English language classes for students whose first language is not English.
