The biggest issue with this school is not its lack of walls (cafeteria in the other hand, it s a matter of hygiene), but rather the absence of challenging, age-appropriated activities for children, while having others going on that seem just too dumb for having place at all levels at school, as Pajama

Seriously??? How would anyone, child or adult be able to concentrate in this environment???? No walls, no cafeteria, and if your child is not like every other child then he is an outcast. This school is doing a great disservice to my child, who needs to be in a gifted and talented program... Oh, we

The new principal is more interested in how much control she can have over the children rather then how much she can help them get the best education possible. Both my children will be pulled from this school next year, I have dealt with it for 4 years and I am tired of my child suffering. Read less

There are no walls, there is no cafeteria! How is a child supposed to learn when he can hear the activities of five other classrooms? Children are expected to be able to concentrate in an environment that is not condusive to learning at all.

I totally agree that there should be a cafeteria. The open classrooms I have no problem with. I went to this school and did very well. My daughter went to this school and is in all honor classes. If you go to the school on a regular day and sit in the class, you'll see you can't hear the other classes.

The scool use to have field day with the whole school together at one time. Regarding cafeteria, lets get rid of the locker rooms and a gym. Overall the teachers are great the principal needs to let loose a little. Read less

I agree what school needs 4 gyms with no lunchroom? Why not put up walls instead of putting in yet more vending machines? Or a new field for the football team? Yes a new football field is nice, but I think walls are better for the kids. If I knew then what I know now I would of never moved into

I am in complete agreement that no having a cafeteria is ridiculous. The kids have no fun in the school. The PTA tries to have events for the childs and are turned down by the princpal.

I agree that the open classrooms are rediculous. I also hate that there is no cafeteria. Why not, if anything, use the gyms as a cafeteria? Thats what we did when I was in elementary school. My child transferred here from a better school district, and there are many things I would like to change.

It should feel warm and welcoming...not cold and empty. Lets have a school festival, or something else to bring our community together. My thought is less then trilling on this school! This school is entirely way to big. The open classroom setting is horrible, as an adult at open school night it was hard for me to pay attention to the teacher talking right in front of me,imagine for a child. And my other biggest complaint these children

There are no school dances or any fun things for the children and why? Always blamed on the size of the school and that they can never accomodate everyone at one time for anything. I will agree to the fact that the school having no walls and boundary separation did concern me when we first moved into the district last year. I felt this would hinder my daughters education but i've come to see past that and realize that it's not the walls that enable a child to learn and be a success.

This review, unfortunately, must predominanttly take the form of complaint. The major complaint is that New Lane Elementary embraces the 'open classroom' concept meaning that instead of each class having their own classroom, all the classes are in one large area with no walls or other separation from

In my opinion, in order for any student to get the most out of their school days, the optimum conditions for concentration should be the objective of any learning institution. I feel that every student that is mandated to study under these conditions is being forced to sacrifice a major portion of their learning potential. For reasons that I cannot identify, the level of support and encouragement provided by the faculty is mediocre and the classrooms are way too large. Read less
