... Read more wonderful principal Mr. Richard Burke was abruptly removed. This was very unsettling to all especially hard on the children who one day had a great principal. We as parents had no recourse or any information to be able to console our children. Since this time the school has declined to a level that has forced me to make a very difficult decision. I decided to remove my children, to try to save their academic future. I am greatly saddened at the path this once great school has taken. At the end of the year we also found out that the newly appointed head of school (principal) has chosen to leave Saint Aloysius. I really feel bad for the children. Parents do not have any other choice, because public school in this area is NOT an option. Read less

I have two children enrolled in St. Aloysius School, the oldest has been there for four years and I find it to be a good school. The current school leadership has done an excellent job of communicating with the parents through a weekly newsletter. The teachers are truely dedicated and caring. My only
... Read more concern is lack of parent involvement in the decision-making on issues that will affect the student body. I would recommend this school to parents who are fond of a small educational environment with a strong academic focus. Read less

my daughter is in the pre-k program and the only problem i have with this school which i find a huge problem to working parents is they are not accomodating for working parents. They have at least 3 days or more a month off. I find myself paying double the tuition because i still have to pay for care
... Read more or take off work without pay everytime they have a day off. Remember I said its at least 3days a month every month. I understand they are a catholic school and have religious holidays but even with all the religious holidays they have to take off they still find other reasons to cancel classes ie.. new student testing, progress reports. These are things that paying parents should not be inconvienced about. All other schools do their progress reports and new student testing during after school hours. Read less

Due to the poor quality of public schools in the harlem area, I could not put my child in the district schools. Although this school is located in Harlem, it is private and they provide the basic educational needs. The class sizes are small and orderly. However, I do feel that they could raise the
... Read more level of academics up, so that these children would be exposed to more than just the basic education. Compared with other non-urban catholic schools, this school is behind academically, but it does surpass the public schools. They have many extracurricular activities that the students can join; and many students take full advantage of the opportunity to broaden their horizons. Parent involvement is pretty good when it comes to activites and school events. If you want your child to be in a safe environment; and get a basic education, this school is pretty good. Read less

Advanced Placement
AP classes are college-level classes offered at the high school level. Once a student completes an AP class and passes a final comprehensive examination conducted by the College Board, the student earns college credit for the course.
