With that in mind, do not force your child to apply here, it's a choice and an investment that they need to make on their own or they will hold it against you for a very, very long time. Academics are top notch, but students gain the most from visiting 'resource rooms' which serve as department offices. Speaking with teachers between classes for homework help or to review a topic can save lots of late-night panicking. Regis has an insular feel to it, but exploring Manhattan after class is key. I love Regis because it is an all scholarship school for gifted young men that gives them a superior education, encourages original thinking, moral values and a sense of duty to community. There is a lifelong camaraderie among the students which is fostered.

I must say, however, Regis will distort your child's view of the world, it is great at producing the future desk-slaves and important people of America, yet it will steal so much from him at an age where social interaction (especially with girls) is necessary. I received a top-notch education at Regis, and college is now a breeze. While the work was incredibly demanding, I managed to have an active social life as well as become involved in numerous extracurricular activities. The faculty and staff weren't anything to write home about, but the material covered

For my son, a disaster, for others I guess great. I've known both. Students are expected to feel constantly privileged to be there,which breeds arrogance on the part of the administration. Any notion of 'student rights' is left at the door. If you did not have a parochial education, think carefully.

I wrote a review in January of '07 while my son was waiting to hear if he was accepted. Now I am the parent of a sophomore! Everything I believed about the school has come to fruition. The academics and experiences have been phenomenal. This is truly one of the finest schools in the nation! Everything

To the 7th and 8th graders - Regis is academically one of the best high schools in the country. The 7th grader worried about his A's in MS becoming 80's at Regis is correct; they probably will. The sports at Regis are limited but like most things, you can take out what you put into it. Also,
... Read more the baseball team is A caliber. Like all high schools, some of the students are way too focused on academics at the expense of a balanced lifestyle. They probably would have this same problem regardless of the high school they attend. Those students at least fit in at Regis. Also, it is a myth to think you will get into Ivy league if you attend Regis. You probably will not, as the 7th grader points out with his comments on getting 80's. I'm a freshman at RHS now and I can assure you that this school is definitely the best in Manhattan. Granted, I have to take the train every day from Long Island, but I've gotten used to it. As a parent of a graduate I assure you Regis is the # 1 school in NYC. The young men are taught by a dedicated facility. There is a wonderful balance of academics, sports and has the # 1 debate program in America. Our son was accepted to Trinity and Horace Mann , passed the specilized High School Test

Advanced Placement
AP classes are college-level classes offered at the high school level.
