... Read more for actually knowing each and every child by name and being amazingly 'hands-on' in her appproach, being accessible to parents, teachers and very importantly to her students. She puts in incredibly long hours from early morning to late evening as I witness being a parent who uses the heaven-sent afterschool program's facilities which is the saving grace for many a working parent.... The creativity that is developed and nourished through the art program is second to no other program in the City. My daughter was a transfer student to St. Andrew's during the seventh grade last year, and she immediately felt at home. The academic standards of St. Andrew Avellino are high and impressive. The text books have been updated since the standards were raised in the past two years. The material in the books prepare the children for the state exams. My child is assigned homework every night in different subjects. Homework
... Read more is always assigned for reading and math every night which I find important because it reinforces what has been taught for the day. Most of the children graduating are attending catholic high schools with high academic standards. The disciplne and respect are a priority which is needed nowadays. The teachers are highly qualified and available to work with the parents. The principal knows the children by name. She is loving and commited to the children. What a true leader! Advanced Placement
AP classes are college-level classes offered at the high school level.
