Our family moved from the New York City schools just as our son was entering sixth grade. He started in this district at MWMS. Though this is a big school (nearly 2000 students in just three grades), we never felt like our child was not getting individual attention or that he was lost in the shuffle.

* In 2008-2009 New York used the New York State Assessments to test students in grades 3 through 8 in English language arts and math, in grades 4 and 8 in science and in grades 5 and 8 in social studies. The tests are standards-based, which means they measure how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of New York.
