Accommodations for bright students are inadequate at the Primary level. For example, Odyssey of the Mind program is only offered for grade 3 and up. Canandaigua Primary School is a very large school. However, class size is small and student/teacher ratio is great! The academic program is fantastic. My child learned so much in Kindergarten. All my children did the K/1 combined program. It worked out great for them. School is new to them, and the big advantage was that they had the same teacher for 2 years. This teacher knows your child's strenghts and weaknessess. The class was extremely well organized. They could group the kids in

(advanced aswell as below) They also had one extra teacher, so the ratio changed to the kid's advantage. The parent's involvement is high. My daughter is blossoming in Kindergarten this year. She is in an extended K-1 classroom and will remain in this classroom next year. Since she was younger than average when she started, I think it was the best decision to have her included in this program. Her teacher is very involved with her students

Advanced Placement
AP classes are college-level classes offered at the high school level. Once a student completes an AP class and passes a final comprehensive examination conducted by the College Board, the student earns college credit for the course. AP classes are specific and not to be confused with other higher-level classes such as honors classes.
Before/After School
"Extended day" programs where the school day is extended before and after school to accommodate working parents. These programs should not be confused with common after school clubs or athletic activities.
Gifted and Talented

Vocation/Technical Curriculum
Vocational and/or technical courses offered within a comprehensive school, usually a senior high school.
Special Education Classes
A school or program within a school that provides services and training to students with moderate to severe mental and/or physical disabilities.
Adult Education Classes
Programs offering GED or equivalent courses for adults within regular schools, whether classes are held during evening or daytime schedules.
English as Second Language
English language classes for students whose first language is not English.
