... Read more grader and soon pre-schooler, have to say that I have seen P.S 272 elevate from nothing to something. In the past when I volunteered as a Learning Leader, I recall the school was out of wack. And yes, it may be true what other people may comment about the turmoil in 272 but I have to say that since Ms. Keyes have taken office as principal, P.S. 272 students, teachers, and parents have learned to believe that 'All is Possible'. My 2nd Son Kyle has been doing really great and many thanks to his Teachers, Ms. O Brian & Ms. Molinari and again (us) Parents, working hand-in-hand with school support leadership teams. The strongest element is being part of the PTA, Parents if you really want/need to be heard, you would need to plant your feet into PTA Meetings. It has a huge impact on the result in which you stand. If you re serious about change, you need to work with your teachers, school leaders and your child/children. Read less

Unfortunately, as a parent, I haven't had the same experience. In fact, the principal is only seen in the morning dancing in the auditorium with the students. After that as a parent, you are on your own. One of the assistant principals who has been there for a while is as helpful as she is allowed

I am really not happy with the effect that this school has on my son, to have a child with special needs in these public schools is not at all beneficial to the child, I feel that my sons teachers are more focused on his behavior than helping him with what he needs to further advance and catch up to
... Read more his classmates. I really do like the Principle Ms. Keyes I feel she really tries hard to keep the school in order as I have never had any major problems. However, teachers needs better training on how to deal with kids with special needs and I also feel that the school should have a better support system for these kind of children. A parent should feel encouraged to send their child to school and have that reassurance that they will be taken cared of academically and psychologically which I don't feel. Read less

I have been involved with this school for a year now. The Principal, Dakota Keyes, is like a light in the world for these children. I've never seen a principal actually LOVE her kids, and believe in her staff the way Ms. Keyes does. Although the population of student would be considered 'high risk'
... Read more I've never felt as comfortable on a campus and interacting with students as I have at PS 272. Not only are kids learning in the culture of this school, (as demonstrated in the change in rating from an 'F' school to an 'A' school) they love being there. The staff is excellent, not to say perfect, but everyone I have encountered has had a heart for these kids, and it's obvious, they're capturing these kids hearts. Thank you. I'll be here all week.
