I also am very happy with the school, but there is not a small library in each classroom, there is a bookscase. It is also severly overcrowded. There is no room for a whole class full of students to actually run around in the gym/cafeteria. It also can't be the mist appetizing environment come unchtime.

I think the last reviewer's sentence that 'Most Bronx schools don't have these resources anyway,' in regard to the lack of library, gym, music and art rooms, a bit an excuse. The staff, the parents and the children all work very hard and NYC should be doing a lot more for us. Our children deserve it. Read less

I've three kids here, and it's an amazing school. The leadership team does an amazing job of assessing children's needs, and guiding parents through getting them approved for extra help. Free after school test prep does not interfere with general education. The principal last year did not accept his

Re: May 30th review Less than True: there's no library room, music room, art room, playground or dedicated gym. Completely True: There's a small library in each classroom from which students pick, and they occasionally walk to the NYPL one block away. There are art and music classes one day a week each in their regular classroom. There is gym class one day a week in the double use gym/cafeteria. My son has just started PS19 (5th grade) after being in a 'private' school. He's adjusting well and I am finding that the education is, at the very least, on par, possibly above. His interest in school has grown again thanks to fabulous teachers. As far as the post of May 2007, I feel that when someone

Not sure how a high test scoring school can be labeled poor. As far as extracurricular activies, I have attended many, with lots of prior notice even before my son attended here. It's basically a neighborhood school so hard not to know what's going on at 19. The PTA works extremely hard to give our kids advantages. We have no regrets in changing schools. Read less

Test scores aside, I feel this is one of the worst schools and I am going to try to put my son in a different school next year. I may even have to move to a different school district in order for my son to receive a decent, well-rounded education. Unfortunately the scholl's focus on testing and achieving

Every time there is a performance, recital, show or other activity that involves our children and should include our participation, the parents are either not given any notice of it or are given notice only a day in advance, making it almost impossible to see our childrens activities.
