My son had some struggles at school since he started first grade, He started at a Public elementary school until the 3rd grade. He never failed a grade, but he always had gaps in math and writing. It seemed that he was just passing the grades but not learning, so we decided to try private school and
... Read more that year he did worst because of all the gaps he already had. So we kept searching for better environment and learning experience for our son and we found it, CARL ICAHN CHATER SCHOOL. After he started there at fifth grade he had a hard time meeting the demands of the class work at the beginning of the term for at least more then half of the year. He had so many gaps in Math and Writing that we thought he would have to repeat the grade to fill them, however with the great after school program for kids not meeting grade level and our help, my son was able to meet grade level and passed and from then on he has not looked back. He is doing so great this year that is unbelievable, we are so happy for him, and he look so happy too that we really thanks this school for his success. Thank you Carl Icahn Chater School. Carl C. Ichan is the best school in the Bronx. I am amazed at my 5 year old son singing the continent song and identifying that we live in North America! My daughter has been at the Icahn Charter School since 3rd grade. She came from a failed Charter School. Her state test scores were a 2 and a 3. She was very weak in many subjects and I didn't know what to do. Mr. Litt spoke to me many times and the staff put my daughter under their wing once they noticed
... Read more her weakness. My daughter has since gone to a 3 and a 4 every year. She is missed being a 4 by 3 points. I love this school. I am forever dedicated to them for changing my daughter's life and shaping her future. She now has goals and dreams. She is very happy. I am very happy. I enrolled my niece in this school in 2003 and not a day goes by that I regret doing so. Mr. Litt and Ms. Natalie and the rest of the staff their are the best and I hope to have my son enrolled as well. My niece has since moved out of state but still misses the staff and the students. All the staff

I like the academic work, there is no music program and there is no hope for one in the near future, there is a semi sport program, not very strong, there is discipline problem with some classes that remains problematic.

She can tell you everything there is to know about Egypt, Mesopotamia, the Continents and famous Artist. Even when she is sick she complains about missing school. She is learning things that no other children I know of her age is learning. Friends and family are amazed at the knowledge she has acquired in such a short space of time. My child started at this school in kindergaten. She was new and had some knowledge of school. Both kindergaten teachers worked extremly hard to make sure that every child left their class reading. Words cannot explain how hard these teachers work with the children at Carl C. Ichan. Every teacher

AP classes are college-level classes offered at the high school level.
