This is the best bargain in Astoria! Class size is small, children thrive, the teachers are very experienced and amazing, and there are lots of fun activities for the children. My children actually made pumpkin pie and roasted pumpkin seeds; yes, there is even a kitchen at QLS, not to mention new computers,

I am writing this as a person who has taught at QLS and knows several of the teachers and administrators....this is a gem of a place in a sea of overcrowded rough schools in the area. Queens Lutheran School is a wonderful and great school. Unfortunately, the enrollement has been low, but hopefully will pick up. I would hate to see the school close. Queens Lutheran school is academically way ahead of other schools.

We are zoned for the public school but just cannot imagine the child being one of twenty-six with one teacher and no para. Our child's class has eleven students with one dynamic teacher and one assistant. That makes the ration 1/5 or 1/6. The curriculum is strong. The grounds and supervision are safe.
... Read more Teachers are kind and attentive to parent requests. It feels like what we are paying for, a private school. The tuition is remarkably low compared to the area private schools. The children are exposed to basic Christian principles. They have recently been inspected and approved by the Board of Health. There are no outstanding problematic issues observed in local schools, eg) closed doors where parents are shut out, overcrowding, communication breakdowns, finger-pointing, or sloppy curriculum. Plenty of play time in Pre-K and fresh air. Biggest problem is lack of supplies. Parents are encouraged to help in this area. Read less

It's disappointing to read those other negative comments. I'm sure they'll have a hard time finding another school with such a warm safe environment. Advanced Placement
AP classes are college-level classes offered at the high school level.
