This is a great school. They have awesome teachers and a great cirriculum. They're test scores are always high and they have a lot of control of students and the activities. It's a great place to send your kids!

When I attended Amherst it was a great school. Diverse student population consisting of people from all social classes, ethnicity's, and income levels. As a parent of 3 children who have attended Amherst, I think previous reviews, positive and negative, are accurate. As the student wrote, there is enormous peer pressure around sex and alcohol, and significant pressure around drugs. Being a current student at this school, I would strongly suggest that if your child is social, athletic, musical, and talented academically, they will accel in this school. * In 2007-2008 New York used the New York State Regents Examinations to test high school students in English language arts, math, global history and geography, US history and government, living environment, chemistry, earth science, physics and several foreign languages. The results for English language arts, math, living environment, chemistry, earth science, physics, global history and geography, and US history and government are displayed in GreatSchools profiles. Students must take at least five Regents Exams in order to graduate. Scores of 65 and above are passing; scores of 55 and above earn credit toward a local diploma (with the approval of the local board of education). The goal is for all students to pass the tests.
