Read what parents are saying about Our Lady Of CzestochowaWe have been in school for over 8 years since kindergarten, and now my son is doing high school applications, I couldn't be more thankful for the school's help and guidance through the process. Over the past few years during covid, the school managed to have online-hybrid classes that have never left any day. The school is like a big family, always caring and on top of things. Now we are working on high school applications, the school has invited a lot of high schools to come for presentations for students aware of their choices, and prepared all the information and help students and parents step by step in the process. One of the best schools in downtown Jersey City.
Posted by a parent on 9/29/2022Currently have a kid at the school. Compared to what OLC was in the past, the quality is dropping dramatically. As the years go on, all the good teachers have been leaving and the ones who are still at the school aren't educating the kids to the same degree as they used to. From what I've seen, the quality of the in class instruction has gone down, the way the school is managed has become significantly worse over time, and the material they're covering has become simpler too.
Posted by a parent on 4/5/2022This school was very damaging to my son. I had to remove him out of there in the middle of the school year while he was being evaluated by the child study team because they were abusing him psychologically. He was later diagnosed with Adhd. His homeroom teacher was “nice” in the beginning but on the second day of school she said she could not deal with him alone and started a campaign to get my son out. There were multiple complaints, usually silly stuff like him walking out of line. There was a point she was refusing to sit and help him citing he needed a 1 to 1 and they wanted me to pay someone in addition to the school tuition. My son even said she would grab him by the arm sometimes, and also she would tell him to “go figure it out” his classwork. His music teacher was also nasty and would scream at him, my son said he hated him. The lunch lady would also scream at him if he drop something on the floor. His teacher said to him we are all watching you, he is only 7.
Posted by a parent on 3/5/2022We are happy and satisfied with OLC. The school environment is great and a bit nostalgically old-fashioned in some ways. It has low student/teacher ratios so each child receives a lot of individualized attention. The school focuses on creating an environment that fosters not only academic learning but also social learning. As a bonus, the school continues until 8th grade so kids (and parents! :) don’t have to deal with changing schools in middle school. OLC has also expanded this year into a new building which gives additional resources to the older grades.
Posted by a parent on 6/2/2018This my child's 3 rd year in school. Everyday she looks forward to go to school. Parent- Teacher communication is great, I find the teaching approach to be holistic where kids learn by through connections to the community, to the natural world, and to humanitarian values.

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe love this school, we found it to be a happy environment for our child, which Jersey City schools lack overall. A+ for diversity, great principal and so far good teachers. I think theres always room for schools to grow so took some points off for that.*There are parents that expect an insane academics program and nothing else and forget what a city school is about and what offers along with their curriculum. For those parents there are other schools in JC that will ONLY offer that to the children and nothing else, do your research.Parent Review7mo ago - Dr. Michael Conti School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy son is in the dual language program, and my daughter is in PK 3. The teachers are supportive, and eager to educate our kids. They make a real effort to push our kids to learn, but in a way that makes learning fun and approachable. The paraprofessionals, security guards, and crossing guards are also wonderful--you can tell they really care for our kids. The PS5 community as a whole is working together to continue to make the school better. The PTA is amazing, and is always working on fundraisers for school trips, grants, and the beautiful garden.Parent Review10mo ago - Rafael De J. Cordero No. 37 Elementary School

9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AveragePS16 in Jersey City will be our reason to move from Jersey City. I am really surprised how the school still holds a high rating, since the system is shockingly disappointing. The school is extremely under-resourced, classes are so crowded (ratio 30:1) that kids need to sit on a rug on the floor during school hours, after school programs are offered to barely 5% of the students and, most importantly, teachers are not communicative and under skilled. Unfortunately, the list could keep going. We had very high expectations, both my husband and I are PhDs and we do understand the importance of a good education system, especially at this age. The school is completely failing its mission, the kids will be heavily affected by this situation. I am envisioning a very quickly approaching drop in ratingParent Review4mo ago - Genesis Educational Center

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageUntil upper elementary the school was good, but lately the middle school program experience has been mediocre at best. Largely due to the director unable to emotionally connect with teen and their natural change in behaviour. The only solution in hand for them seems to unscathing remarks in school reports without deliberating on causes and actions. Parents have now started noticing egoistic teacher behavior with ill formed bias towards students.Parent Review1mo ago - French American Academy in Jersey City

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy daughter has attended since the FAA opened in 2013, and she absolutely loves her school. I have gotten to know personally the very approachable, dynamic, and competent management team. The 3 sections K/Pre-K, Elementary and Middle School are equally strong and provide children with a top-notch education with a level of cultural exposure and fully bilingual setting you will not find elsewhere. Why should you consider this school? For a French family it is a no-brainer. Half of the teachers come from France bringing with them the culture and teaching philosophy. The level is significantly above public schools in France. Even for French parents settled permanently in the US, why deny your child the chance to be completely fluent and be able to communicate in French with grand-parents back home? For American families, the English program is very rigorous, with advanced materials, and children are at no disadvantage vs those in the best private schools. 8th graders have gone on to some of the best high-schools in NY/NJ. As a bonus you will enjoy being connected with the international community of the FAA. And yes your child will be bilingual.Parent Review1y ago
