three of my children have attended Lakeland and one will be enrolled next year. I have nothing but wonderful things to say about the school. all of my children have flourished in Lakeland. they each participated in very different activities. cheering, soccer, track, softball, student council, DECA, swap.

Read more roadshow, and more. my oldest graduated from her first choice college, my second is attending her first choice college! teachers have gone above and beyond and guidance did a wonderful job! the administration always has a smile for me, the parent! parents must be involved! remember, it takes parents,teachers, and the student for success. My son goes to this school and I must say that I am very pleased with it. The administration and teaching staff is very friendly and helpful. The academic programs are among the best in the state. All of the extracurricular activites are top notch. Lakeland is one of the best public high schools around.

this school is so-so at best. The main concern of the staff is how much they get paid and when they're getting off work. Don't send your children there if you have a choice.

It seems as long as the students fall into the higher end or need special assistant, the school does well by these students. From what I understand its the ones in the middle that get lost. Also the athletic Dept. needs some fine tuning. Talented players are catered to while the others who could contribute
... Read more to the teams are not used or 'cut'. Skills can be taught but attitude cannot. Althletic participation is a privelege but when a large part of per student funding goes to that dept. shouldn't the greatest amount of participants be allowed to join. Be honest with our young people, don't play games with their heads and emotions. Some students would do anything to be on a H.S.team. There has to be a way to change things! (especially when you are cutting only 2 or 3 players per sport. Read less

... Read more is the only true statement that he/she made during his/her rantings about the highschool. After receiving a large grant from the state of New Jersey, repairs are being made. Besides providing many athletic and musical extra cirricular activities, there is a wide variety of other activites geared towards leadership training and community service. These include L.E.A.P. (Leaders Enouraging Adolescent Progresss), S.W.A.P (Speak With A Peer), as well as oppurtunities to hold office on Student or Class Council. The school paper is also an award winning program and in 2003 the Lancer Ledger recieved high recognition for a medium sized school editorial. Having experienced the school environment first hand, I believe it was an amazing, productive, and essential part of my educational experience. Read less

Teaching is lackluster and administration lacks substance. Teacher-initiated communication with the parents is essentially nonexistant. The building is too cold for student comfort during the winter--often below 55 degrees in the classrooms--but school dress code does not permit students to wear a jacket
... Read more when necessary. The after school programs in this school are heavily geared towards athletics and music. There are few academic after school programs other than small clubs not well supported by the staff, administration, and board of education. The after school clubs in the music program place a dire financial burden on the families. One program costs parents thousands of dollars a year, another program costs hundreds of dollars per year. The district has the unwieldly policy of requiring that permission slips be notarized. For years, the board of education has engaged in questionable management of funds, raising the budget but not adequately demonstrating to the taxpayers where the money is being spent. Read less
* In 2007-2008 New Jersey used the High School Proficiency Assessment (HSPA) to test students in grade 11 in language arts literacy, math and science. The HSPA is a standards-based test, which means it measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of New Jersey. Advanced Placement
AP classes are college-level classes offered at the high school level. Once a student completes an AP class and passes a final comprehensive examination conducted by the College Board, the student earns college credit for the course. Vocation/Technical Curriculum
Vocational and/or technical courses offered within a comprehensive school, usually a senior high school.
Special Education Classes
A school or program within a school that provides services and training to students with moderate to severe mental and/or physical disabilities.
Adult Education Classes
Programs offering GED or equivalent courses for adults within regular schools, whether classes are held during evening or daytime schedules.
English as Second Language
English language classes for students whose first language is not English.
