I have two children at this school. My children like the school but I am far from happy. My children's teacher's are lovely but the Principle has her own adgenda and it does not seem to be the school's performance. The 'No child gets left behind policy' means that many children get bored and frustrated.
... Read more If your child can read and write before they enter this school, their ability to progress further is non existant until the rest of the class has reached the same ability. The school changes from one policy to another and there is little consistancy. There are no options for individuality. I am sorry chose where I live in Sparta, an expensive mistake for my children's future. I should have moved to the other side of the lake! Read less

... Read more to late!! By the time interventions are in place your kid is halfway through 3rd grade & catch-up is tough.Warning! They push the kids through, telling the parents what they want to hear, that their child is doing fine, even if it's not true. Ask them to support any statements revolving student performance! They do not tell the truth. I know a lot of parents that are not happy and want to help change the school. Teachers are not to blame, they are stuck with an administration that fails to support them! The prinicipal and assistant principal are very, very good. They are completely into the children and their best interests. The PTO struggles with communication, but I suppose that is not uncommon. So far, we have had fantastic teachers who are willing to communicate at any time.

I have two graduates from this school. Both of them had learning diabilities. One is a top University graduate, with a degree in Phycology and a Special Education Minor- Dean's List. She is on the way to her Master's in Special Ed. The other just completed her freshman year at a first class Southern

My thought to parents is learn to work with the teachers ( listen first and formulate together,Don't tell or demand) and really have hands on with your childs education ( homework) and understand what and where the teaching curriculum comes from. Alpine school has great teachers and is very safe. The academics were very challenging, but more geared toward children who do not have any learning disabilities. The administration was not what I expected from a school in this area. They were not very helpful and not too willing to talk to parents

Advanced Placement
