Overall, this is a very good school that could be a great school with just a few areas addressed. First, they have had three principals in the past 4 years, and this has been rather disruptive to the students and parents. Second, sports (football in particular)has taken priority over academics. Granted,

Literally every sport in the school was state ranked this past year. Academically, the honors programs are top notch and can compete with the best schools in the state. Be aware that this school is not for everyone; virtually all of the 800+ boys are involved in some type of sport, and the teams are extremely competitive. If junior was a star on his in-town teams, it does not mean anything at the prep. The nationally ranked and state champion football team is legendary, as is the cross-country team, whose coach sports a 66-1 record. Sports remains king at the prep (the $1 million dollar football field says it all and is stunning); academics is dramatically improving. Avg SAT's approaching 1200. Not a place for the purely artistic, although the theater productions are outstanding. Overall: a great place for the right kid. College acceptances to most competitive class of schools are common, and increasing. Many D1 sports scholarships awarded each year. Read less
