I feel that this school is a great school. My girls have been attending SR for a few years now and have always enjoyed going. We did loose a few great teachers due to county 'mixing things up'. One being the Art Teacher who was one of my daughters role models. We will just have to see how the year goes,

An exceptional school where there is a high level of learning happening. One of the top elementary schools in the state. In k-garten our child was doing multiplication, reading/writing and talking about things like photosynthesis. He truly loves the school. The one small negative I can see is that

I do believe this rating system is a bit heavy-handed, but can see how it might help a student perform better the next day in the hopes of not getting a negative rating. Many say that these ratings cause stress for the child and household, so I wish they could come up with something more positive based. Overall, a fantastic school. Never heard of EOG thing poster mentions... Read less

We have a special needs child and could not be happier with his progress and the wonderful supportive environment provided by the school. The principal, Tom Childers, is excellent and as he has a special needs child of his own, he and his staff could not be more understanding and responsive. If you are

The PE program was goodlast year but is now definitely the worst area of the school. Classes are combined but not according to grade level so there are different ages in each class. My children s experience at Sandy Ridge has been great for the most part. This year we have run into a few little bumps. The idea of what the school considers a positive Physical Education program is a bummer. The program has been extraordinary and so beneficial for the students in the past. Another

A note to the previous parent posting. I am sorry you feel that way about our school. Everyone has their own way of handling children. I happen to love the idea of quiet time during lunch. At first, when my son told me about this rule, I had to think about it. But then it occured to me, the reasoning

I was a sixth grade teacher in South Florida, and I experienced a child choking to death in front the entire cafeteria. The kids in this particular school, had a cafeteria that was out of control. The child choked while simply laughing and talking. So look at the positive! The school isn't negative at all, we parents have to be the positive ones. Read less
* In 2007-2008 North Carolina used End-of-Grade (EOG) tests to assess students in grades 3 through 8 in reading and math. The EOG tests are standards-based, which means they measure how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of North Carolina.
