Our biggest concern about this school is the principal. She has a my way or the highway approach to managing her staff, which prevents teachers from using there own creative approaches to teaching. There is more emphasis put on below grade level kids and there are numerous teachers and staff that specialize in helping those children. I must agree with this school having poor leadership! My child dreads going to school because of his teacher lack of classroom management! Yates Mill Elementary is an excellent school. The teachers strive to push every student to their academic potential. The leadership at the school is superior. No where will you find a more knowlegable, driven or involved principle who strives to make Yates Mill the best experience for all children.
... Read more I have two children there who are happy and challenged. There is a lot of parental support and a very active PTA which is able to purchase supplemental materials at all levels. The teachers are outstanding and all work together to create the lessons for all classes. Discipline problems are dealt with fairly and swiftly and safety is a priority at the school. Advanced Placement
