We have pulled our children out of Southlake Christian. Our daughter needed some additional tutoring and Southlake was not willing to accomodate us while we were working with outside help. They were very critical and because of this she was very aware of her shortcomings as a student in kindergarten.

It was a huge dissappointment for us to remove both children from Southlake but they did not care at all we left. The administration has a 'you don't like it you can leave' attitude about them and is sadly destroying what could have been a wonderful educational institution in the Lake Norman area. Read less

What I love about SouthLake is the positive environment it provides and the teaching of Christian values. You are also kept very up to date on things via the website grades and e-mail contact with teachers. What I am concerned about at SouthLake is the rigid teaching approch - teachers have little to

I would rather my children learn critical thinking skill as promised, than memorize facts they will soon forget. It is a good school, but I expected a lot more for the money. There is so much research on innovative teaching techniques and learning styles that it's a shame that SL sticks to such old fashioned methods. Works great for very task oriented, disciplined children. Not so great for more creative types. Read less

The parents of the other reviews must not have high school students. The curriculum at Southlake is not more challenging that the public schools. Most of the teachers are young and inexperienced and aren't effective in the classroom, so they pile on the homework. Students are not getting scholarships

Their college level classes do not meet the grade. They change the rules continuously to cover up mistakes of the favorites (athletes and church members). Most of the better universities do not rate this school very highly I would have gotten into a better college staying at the public high school. Read less

If your looking for a school that will give your child a good shot at a scholarship, then this is the place. If your looking for an administration and faculty that represents a Christlike attitude in their approach, you wont find it here. They are not friendly, not open to advice, and not open to work

When we needed to talk to the principal, he never returned our call. We have since moved to North Lincoln Middle School, and I can't believe what an amazing program they have going. The best move we ever made, and my children love the school and are excelling at their work. In my opinion, The administration at Southlake are arrogant and not worth my hard earned money. Read less

We have had a wonderful experience at Southlake. We love that our child is being taught Biblical values as well as being challenged academically. Southlake is a wonderful community. They do a great job at challenging students academically and spiritually. It's a good balance. The environment is structured and children are expected to be respectful of their peers and the staff. Some of the administration and teachers can be a little stuffy,

After reading some of these reviews I can say I chose Southlake because it challenges the students academically (everyone wants their kids to have a great education). Also, I for one do not want my child to think its okay to do whatever they want whenever they want. There is a time for learning, and

I am amazed when I read some of the reviews of SLCA, and I wonder what school some of these parents are talking about. We have had a wonderful eductional experience in our 11 years at SLCA. With a 3rd grader and a 6th grader, I know there has never been a time that children were given retakes of tests.

The school has teachers ranging in age and experience (my daughter's teacher has over 30 years teaching experience). As for the rules, our children thrive in the ordered and nurturing environment. The HS curriculum is challenging and providing excellent preparation for college. Read less
