Hillsborough Elementary School is a wonderful school. The year round schedule creates a balanced learning approach. As a school of choice, HES students, teachers, and parents want to be there. The high level of parental support helps to make HES the best school possible.

We found the quality of the academic programs (especially the gifted classes) to be excellent for six of the seven years our daughter attended (1997-2002/2003). Music and art were built into the curriculum, and parental involvement was excellent.

I do not think this school prepared my child for middle school. While the teachers were very nice, I feel they let my child slip thru the cracks because they felt she was a good kid. Instead of challenging her. She is now in 7th grade and is failing. I was once told by a HES teacher that bottom line
... Read more if she passed the end of year test (5th grade) she would be passed to middle school even though she felt she wasn't ready. I still have a 3rd grader in HES. I do not plan on letting what happened to our oldest happen to our youngest. The school needs more tutoring programs, foreign languages etc. The world is a tough place and these students need the building blocks educationally. Read less

Advanced Placement
