I attended New Hope School and my kids now are being taught there. As a parent, I feel it is my responsibility to find out how my kids are doing. I do not wait for a progress report or report card. For then, it is too late to fix a problem that needs to be fixed. I have only my kids to worry about

When their child hits the middle school, they expect the same.... sorry, it just doesn't work that way. There is no possible way these teachers can do that. Many students today still need guidance, standards and goals and they need their parents to hold them accountable!! Teachers are doing all they can! I attended New Hope High School for some time and I find it to be a pretty good school. Yes, it seems that the only thing most people care about there is athletics since several of the students there are involved in some type of sports program. However, I do agree that academics should be focused on

Read more a great deal more because several of the students that were exceling in academics were not attaining enough recognition for their accomplishments but other than that I believe New Hope is still a good school. Most of the teachers there are great, nice people. Although it may seem that some of the teachers there don't teach, most of them do. A great problem however is student apathy but that's in any high school. If students--not just at New Hope--focus more on and actually care their academics, they will be better off in the future. I graduated from this school last year, and I must say, this school needs to pick up the pace. I agree with the parent that said that this school needs more guidance, because frankly, I was totally unprepared for college. * In 2007-2008 Mississippi used the Subject Assessment Testing Program (SATP) to test students in English II, writing, algebra I, biology I and U.S. history at the completion of each course. Students must pass all parts of the SATP in order to graduate from high school. The SATP is a standards-based test, which means it measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Mississippi. The goal is for all students to pass the test.
