There is real room for improvement at this school. The school has an authoritarian feel to it. The school has a positive behavior system in place, but it fails to recognize positive behaviors in students. Griffith is very MAP driven and little 'student driven.' There is room for improvement. There is lack of parent involvement, and teacher commitment in certain grades. My child was not turning in homework, and I do weekly progress checks on my child. I was not told until report cards came out. I asked the teacher beforehand and was not given any information.
... Read more I feel the only material being taught to the students is what is required by MAP testing. I have had problems with the PTO fundraiser, where my money was taken but no merchandise was given. The principal did not return my phone calls, and I had to corner her at her office. She was hardly ever in her office. There is a new principal, now. Since I have graduated, I have seen changes occur not for the best. Hopefully, there will be positive changes for the children. * In 2006-2007 Missouri used the Missouri Assessment Program (MAP) to test students in grades 3 through 8 and 10 in math and in grades 3 through 8 and 11 in communication arts. The MAP is a standards-based test, which means it measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Missouri. Advanced Placement
AP classes are college-level classes offered at the high school level.
