The classes might be small but kids do interact with each other and do have a lot of friends, if they do not have friends then somthing is worng with them not the school. A lot of the other schools are bigger so that you can meet more people, but they do not even know half the kids in their own grade. I think this a good school, but some people should just not go there if they hate it so much. Read less

My daughter was at a different area school and was being bullied. So seriously that she tried to kill herself. We knew we needed to make a change and ended up choosing NLA. ... Read more are safe yet big enough that they are given the same great opportunities as if they were in a bigger public school; Teachers that my daughter doesn't have know her by name. Even though the extracurricular activities are limited, the administration welcomes parents to step in and provide opportunities for the kids. The sky's the limit at NLA! I highly recommend it to all kids and parents that are looking for a school that not only values education but also the kids' emotional and mental health and treats them as individuals. Read less

We send our children to North Lakes Academy. It does have a gym now and is beginning its sports program. It offers a number of after school activities and clubs and some sports. The library has literature for reading and two computer labs are available for research. The school is in the process of
... Read more expanding to a new location and adding grades 5 and 10-12. NLA is an established charter school with a ten year history with a stable and growing staff. The small school environment provides a caring structure for each student and their personal learning needs. It doesn't offer everything that a large school offers; but gives a solid foundation for a basic curriculum. In spite of the ups and downs that accompany growing pains, we have no regrets about enrolling at North Lakes Academy. Read less

North Lakes Academy is an incredible school. The small class sizes allow teachers to give individual attention to each student. My son was struggling in the larger public school and now he has changed his attitude about school and homework 100 percent. NLA is giving my son the chance at an education

I have reservations about this school. It is a great school if your child likes to study. They give alot of homework, they challenge the students, have high expectations. Most teachers are good & I really like the principalI. On the down side, there has been alot, I repeat ALOT of 'cutting' going on
... Read more in the school. I didn't believe it at first, until my daughter started 'cutting' herself & said alot of her friends do it. They don't have a gym, yet. They will be expanding. But if your child has special needs (ADHD - like mine), it's not a good choice. They are not flexible with the children and expect all should act the same way. The staff does a nice job of compensating with creative methods (gymnastic studio next door, park near by, library near by, etc.) and it is worth the sacrifice. If you are looking for a school with smaller class sizes, caring teachers, and a great network for your student this school is for you! This is a great school! Having a small class size is perfect for any child. The school district does offer sports - it's through the much larger Century Jr. High. If sports are not important to your child's learning, this school has a lot to offer. There are many activities available for the children

Advanced Placement
AP classes are college-level classes offered at the high school level.
