I believe that Vassar School District has it's ups and downs. I have seen improvements since I've graduated. Now both my kids attend there, and I am involved in their educational decisions as well as the academic interests. Some of their teachers have rushed at the end of the year to meet their agendas,

I have had my children in 3 other schools and would have to say I am most disappointed in Central Elm. When we first arrived my special needs child was getting beat-up by other students and we weren't even allowed a conference with the other parties parents, just a comment from the principle ' I assure

Read more you it has been taken care of, although I am not at liberty to tell you how the child was disciplined', well after 3 more incidents with the same child assaulting my son I finally had to take matters into my own hands and go to the higher ups* It is for the most part an EXTREMELY unsafe environment, especially for children who have special needs, and I would agree that the organization system in place is ridiculous! Central schools are poorly organized. not all of the teachers are high quality. central does not have very high standards, and has poor safety. my child has experienced 4 bomb threats within not even two years.

... Read more Christmas, provide food for the food pantry, send money to the tsunami victims, and send care packages to military troops. Reading is valued and celebrated every year at the Accelerated Reader fun day. Staff members sing, dance, and play instruments at a kick-off assembly followed by a terrific day of activities and games for the kids. Rock and Read is another great time for parents and students to read and dance the night away. Central is a special place where kids are valued. I wouldn't send my children anywhere else! Read less

Being involved with three different elementary schools since my child began attending school, I find Central to be an over-all good school but has a serious lack of organization in regards to activities that should involve parental input. Advanced Placement
