My son attended Graebner/Bemis/Henry Ford II. He had a great experience and loved his teachers and schools. Two years ago, he started at the University of Michigan with enough credits to be a sophomore because of his strong ACT and AP background. I can't say enough good things about these school and ...  Read more

This is a horrible school, my daughter was bullied for the whole year and the counselor knew about the whole deal but never brought it to my attention. Now she is dealing with anxiety and depression for the past year. Trust me, its a bad school all the way.......

If your child has a 504 plan, don't plan on sending him/her here. It's been a nightmare with lack of follow-through with it. Most teachers put extensive grading on turning in "stamped" packets. So, if your child loses it, it will bring their grade down at least a grade or two. Very frustrating to ...  Read more

As a whole, I thoroughly hated this school with a passion. Many of the teachers don't genuinely care about the students and the ones that do teach with lack of enthusiasm and engagment of the class's attention. However I did have some pretty amazingly outstanding teachers that made my day better such ...  Read more

to say i am unhappy with Bemis is an understatement, i was shocked at the treatment my child has received by her teachers . seems to me they are there for a paycheck and that is about it. as for asking for help with a subject that is a joke, the teachers seem bothered if your child needs a little extra ...  Read more

I am a student at this school. I dont think this is a good school. Not because i dont like it i just dont think that they want us to stive as much as they try. Because if they did they would try alot harder

Great school. Look at their numbers. 'A' school as rated by the state. Test scores way above average. Good staff, many of them young. Utica schools in general are pretty strong, and this is one of the best in the district.

I used to go to this school before i transfered to another state. I couldnt believe what was on here about this school. Compared to the school transferred to the end of my 8th grade year this school is a great school. The diciplinary problems are nothing compared to the types of things teachers deal ...  Read more

Under the current administration this school is poor. My son was failing his math class (F's on 4 tests) and when I asked that he be allowed to change teachers to see if it was the material or presentation the change was denied. The principal said the reason for the change was not a valid one. I ...  Read more

MEAP* Test Scores

Grade Level:

Test Year: 2013
Bemis Junior High School
Utica Community Schools
Michigan
* In 2012-2013 Michigan used the Michigan Educational Assessment Program (MEAP) to test students in grades 3 through 8 in math, reading and writing; in grades 5 and 8 in science; and in grades 6 and 9 in social studies. The MEAP is a standards-based test, which measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Michigan. The goal is for all students to score at or above the proficient level. Beginning in the 2011-2012 school year, the Michigan State Board of Education implemented new definitions of what it means to be proficient on the MEAP test. The new standards for proficiency are higher than in previous years and the percent of students earning a proficient score is expected to be lower as a result of this change.
