There are many opportunities for those children who excel in academics (accelerated classes, etc.). Those children who were not born with the skills necessary to learn easily are left to fail and treated like misfits. We need to put more of our tax money into schools so that we can spend less tax dollars

My children who struggle academically continue to struggle as we spend more and more money at Sylvan to help them to get the proper math education (which the Everyday Math program does not provide). My daughter's two years at this school have been excellent. She has ADD and is a special placement in the gifted and talented program. The staff has bent over backwards to allow her to work at her on speed and keep her interested. They have been open and worked with us whenever needed. I have only

We compared this school closely with the local private schools and found it to be the best option. The culture in Saline has a big effect on parental attitudes. The old farm locals have been fighting change and growth. The newer white collar residents tend to complain and have a lot of demands but don't want involvement. The Staff is under a lot of pressure. I'm not happy with my child's experience at this school. Picture a machine that marches on regardless of those who are faltering or failing to keep up. The pressure on the schools and the subsequent filtering down of the same to the children is tremendous. Material must be covered and pray that you understand

Programs offered after school to provide some assistance to the children lenghten a long day for those who are already battle weary from trying to keep up. * In 2008-2009 Michigan used the Michigan Educational Assessment Program (MEAP) to test students in grades 3 through 8 in math, reading and writing; in grades 5 and 8 in science; and in grades 6 and 9 in social studies. The MEAP is a standards-based test, which means it measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Michigan. The goal is for all students to score at or above the proficient level.
