10 Parent Reviews for Crestwood Elementary School

We moved into the Rockford school district just days before the school year started. We really had no idea what to expect, but we have been pleasantly surprised by how wonderful our experience at Crestwood has been! My kids both have wonderful, caring teachers who communicate with us. The principal ...  Read more

This school did not meet our expectations. When we moved to Ram Nation, my wife (a teacher) volunteered at this school every week to help and get to know the place we were going to entrust our kids to. Her direct experience over the course of a full year resulted in us enrolling our kids in a local ...  Read more

Crestwood Elementary's staff and active parent population give quite an edge over any typical elementary school. I have had three children pass through Crestwood's halls, and each year they excel both academically and grow socially. Also important is the way staff at Crestwood dies not believe in cookie ...  Read more

The staff and students are excellent. I highly recommend this school. The parents are very involved. My daughter loves Crestwood, as she goes to middle school next year I am confident that they have prepared her well.

Every student and staff member signs a social contract at the beginning of the school year. The contract states, 'we will be: respectful, safe, generous, friendly, honest, responsible, kind, caring and hard-working.' In my opinion, the contract is an important part of the Crestwood culture during the ...  Read more

Large for an elementary school. Alot of expectations put on parents to participate in every little activity, putting unecessary pressure on working parents and creating disappointment with children. We have children going to two Blue Ribbon Elem. schools in Rockford. Crestwood has by far the most ...  Read more

Good school academically, but very large. There were 100 second-graders in 4 classes, when my daughter went there... too big for our taste. There were also cliques, in the second grade! We removed our daughter and place her in a smaller, private school where the teachers are allowed to talk about morals ...  Read more

I strongly believe that the entire Rockford School system does and incredible job of educating children to become responsible citizens that truly care for others, but I must say that the Crestwood staff, students, and parents really ROCK! MEAP* Test Scores

Grade Level:

Test Year: 2013
Crestwood Elementary School
Rockford Public Schools
* In 2012-2013 Michigan used the Michigan Educational Assessment Program (MEAP) to test students in grades 3 through 8 in math, reading and writing; in grades 5 and 8 in science; and in grades 6 and 9 in social studies. The MEAP is a standards-based test, which measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Michigan. The goal is for all students to score at or above the proficient level. Beginning in the 2011-2012 school year, the Michigan State Board of Education implemented new definitions of what it means to be proficient on the MEAP test. The new standards for proficiency are higher than in previous years and the percent of students earning a proficient score is expected to be lower as a result of this change.
