All of the rumors I heard are true. I contacted the principal twice with no response and found the teacher difficult to work with. Fighting was acceptable and teaching methods from the 90's were general practice. My overall experience was not pleasant!!! Coming from a very good elementary school ...  Read more

I think the experience you get from this school depends on who you deal with. The office can't take notice of everyone, from their responses. As a parent that was only visible on occasions I never felt that welcomed. We had two different teachers when my child was there. One was fantastic and brought ...  Read more

Very disappointed with Riley. My daughter is in their learning center program and she has never hated school the way she does now. My husband and I always worked with staff since she was in pre-school and accept that she does have faults and need a firm hand to handle, but we have always work through ...  Read more

What a joke this school is. I had a daughter go through this school when it first opened and was very disappointed. I reserved judgment until my next child was ready to attend since the school was newer, I figured it was only fair to give it time. While it has an active PTA your ideas are ignored ...  Read more

The playground has ample room and a great play structure. I am really impressed. My older children had attended private ...  Read more

My son attended Rile and had a phenomenal experience. The music exploratory was fantastic. If you read the notes from the parents that are berating this school and the educational experience, note the numerous words that are incorrectly spelled. Do you really want to take their word for anything?!

The school dose have some bad things but every school dose. theirs bad kids and good kids. Mostly everyone is nice. If you have problems in a subject a teacher will help you. Over all this school would get 3 or 4 stars. No school is perfict!

My son is now in the sixth grade at this school. It seems that LPS nor the school cares about what is best for the kids at this school. This place does noes not seem to have teachers that like to teach anything but the meap. This last two years at this school has been a waste for my child.

Riley Upper Elementary School
Livonia Public Schools
Michigan
* In 2012-2013 Michigan used the Michigan Educational Assessment Program (MEAP) to test students in grades 3 through 8 in math, reading and writing; in grades 5 and 8 in science; and in grades 6 and 9 in social studies. The MEAP is a standards-based test, which measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Michigan. The goal is for all students to score at or above the proficient level. Beginning in the 2011-2012 school year, the Michigan State Board of Education implemented new definitions of what it means to be proficient on the MEAP test. The new standards for proficiency are higher than in previous years and the percent of students earning a proficient score is expected to be lower as a result of this change.
