I am currently a student here (2009-2010) and I have learned so much and the school year isn't even over yet. Also,Mr.H and Mr.K are the greatest teachers ever. I love it here and I am so happy that i left former school to come here. Even though I left my friends I made new ones and it was worth it to ...  Read more

As far as I'm concerned there is not a better school in the state of Michigan!!! The things they're learning will help them throughout their lives and they have just a ton of fun learning. They develop leadership skills, learn to work in groups and more. I can't believe the difference in the attitude ...  Read more

I went to Zoo School just last year and I loved It. They work you hard but it is very rewarding!

Going to Zoo was the best thing I ever did. It was really hard though, and if you didn't buckle down and work, you got your butt kicked. However, I met a lot of great people and I doubt I'll ever forget what I learned there, especially the non-academic stuff, like how to understand the woods the way ...  Read more

Horrible School, boring classes, terrible mean students, bad teachers, pointless assignments, I wish I had sent my child to Blandford like my other son.

Zoo School was by far the best experience of my life so far! I loved every minute of it! I will never have another teacher like Mr. H or Mr. K again! They are truly one of a kind. Zoo School is fun, but you have to earn it. A lot of people think that Zoo School is all fun and games and that there is ...  Read more

As a parent of a zooey, I am proud of how my daughter has grown throughout the year academically. She has become confident student that puts her heart into all she does. The qualities that Mr. K & Mr. H teach the children not only last during the school year, but make an impact on the children (and ...  Read more

MEAP* Test Scores

John Ball Park Zoo School
Grand Rapids Public Schools
Michigan
* In 2012-2013 Michigan used the Michigan Educational Assessment Program (MEAP) to test students in grades 3 through 8 in math, reading and writing; in grades 5 and 8 in science; and in grades 6 and 9 in social studies. The MEAP is a standards-based test, which measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Michigan. The goal is for all students to score at or above the proficient level. Beginning in the 2011-2012 school year, the Michigan State Board of Education implemented new definitions of what it means to be proficient on the MEAP test. The new standards for proficiency are higher than in previous years and the percent of students earning a proficient score is expected to be lower as a result of this change.
