The only drawbacks are no bussing (but they do have a before and after school program), and it only goes to grade 8. Being a small school, there are some things it cannot have financially. But it more than makes up for the extra material things with a quality education and loving, supportive environment. I honestly believe this school offers the best start for a child's education. Yes, there is no bus transportation, but the morning and after school club is handy someone is there at 6 a.m. and there until 6 p.m. This is wonderful for parents that need to work and want their child to be safe and have a wonderful education too. Yes, there might be a few problems with discipline, but what school doesn't. This is a no tuition school and parent hands on is always welcome. You must stop in and see for yourself. Read less

It is a small school offering k-8, so it cannot financially offer some things. But overall the children are improving in their test scores. Reading using the SERA method is really working. There are always growing pains and this school has some but they are working on making it work.There are educated community members offering assistance with children having problems in school. There is an after and before school care. Tutoring is offer in the after school program. The principle is very alert to the improvements that are taking place with the parents in mind. There are dance and karate after school programs taught by qualified parents and community folks.This school may not be for everyone but it certainly tries to help! Read less

I find that over the last three years the quality of the school has dropped drastically. The emphasis is not on the individual student but on the certification of the school. Discovery has lost its focus.

Discovery is a great school! The teachers are all wonderful. Students do fun, hands-on learning! Terra Nova test scores for the lower grades are outstanding! The MEAP scores tend to be higher due to a high influx of new students at the 4th and 5th grade level and the small number of students taking

Advanced Placement
