Read what parents are saying about Fernwood Montessori SchoolFernwood Montessori is a wonderful AMI Montessori school. It used to be called Lone Oak years ago. Our experience with the school has been nothing but positive, from the nurturing teachers to the involved administration. Our children are thriving and we feel confident that they are getting an authentic montessori experience. The school has been over the whole time during the pandemic and we are very grateful that our kids have been able to go to school in person, and have a sense of normalcy. I would recommend this school whole-heartedly.
Posted by a parent on 12/3/2021Two of our children attended Lone Oak Montessori. The first started in the Primary program just before his third birthday and attended for three years before transitioning to the public kindergarten. We had him attend full day in his third year which was a HUGE help in the transition. He loved his time there and still talks about his teachers and friends over a year later. Our youngest started in the toddler program before he was even two years old - we had a sudden childcare emergency and the school's administration was extremely flexible and helpful. This is an AMAZING school for working parents and a superior option to more traditional daycare options in the area. He moved on to the primary program at three and loves it, and we see the Montessori influence and lessons carry over at home.
Posted by a parent on 7/24/2015Our son began school at Lone Oak before his third birthday and he is now in their kindergarten program (he's 5 1/2). We've been very pleased with the welcoming school community, level of involvement of the parents, personalized Montessori education and the support/love that the kids are shown. The classes are small and the kids are really given the opportunity to grow. They instill a love of learning in the children and encourage their social, intellectual and emotional growth. We've been very happy.

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageKensington Parkwood is a diverse, vibrant, and flourishing community where children have the opportunity to receive world-class education with cutting edge curriculum from teachers who are dedicated and talented. The school has strong leadership from an outstanding and positive Principal. You will often see her at pickups and dropoffs and whenever there is a need for community engagement, she is out front and taking feedback. She is flanked by an incredible staff who seem able to teach the entire spectrum from children in need of special attention to the gifted program. The library is strong. The counselors are strong. The front office is strong. Security team is strong.I have not yet met a parent who was dissatisfied with the school. Our son is in 5th grade and our daughter in 3rd and we've been with the school all the way! In fact, this satisfaction is in part driven by strong parent engagement with the school. The PTA is motivated, helping to help with all kinds of extras from a running club to environmental programs (composting, campus clean-ups, and fun school gatherings to name a couple). The student body is diverse. Many ethnic backgrounds are well-represented as well as well as families come from around the world. The school hosts an international night and the sheer number of countries represented by flags of the world is staggering and inspiring. It seems there is a place for everyone. The building is beautiful with lots of windows and many recent renovations that have modernized it.Parent Review6mo ago - Wyngate Elementary School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI can't express enough how exceptional The Woods Academy is, thanks to its remarkable teachers and staff, where everyone knows each other and makes you feel at home.My older son has thrived there for three years, now in 1st grade, feeling confident, happy, and safe. Even when he was sick, his teacher ensured he stayed on track by sending homework daily via his little sister. Despite his writing challenges, his teacher provides personalized word practice and attention, made possible by the small class size of 15 students. My daughter also benefits from their Montessori program, fostering independence and empathy, especially evident when she received thoughtful letters and drawings from classmates while she was sick. This school emphasizes engagement over passive learning; my son has a supportive Prayer Partner, a 5th grader, who he meets with on a regular basis; and my daughter enjoys cooking classes, which even involve parents. I recently was invited to cook and read in her class. Overall, the teachers prioritize understanding and learning from mistakes, shaping not only academic growth but also nurturing kindness and empathy in my children.Parent Review1mo ago - St Jane De Chantal School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThere’s no mental support for children. Teachers have anger issues and treat children differently especially the girls. The principal still thinks it’s the 1800’s.Other Review6mo ago - French International School
