My son is new to RTCS this year. The staff is nice and mostly fair. The prinicpal and assistant principle are good and responsive. Whenever a child transitions to middle school, there are adjustments. RTCS does a good job in presenting a challenging curriculum, yet balancing that with fun activities.
... Read more If your kids go to school here, I recommend that you keep extra curricular activities to a minimum. If you do that, then the workload is reasonable. If you are the type of parent that enrolls your child in a lot of extra curricular activities, then RTCS may be too much. I feel that schoolwork is the most important thing. One or two outside activities is fine, and necessary, but if you go overboard with that, then a child of this age will not be able to excel at academics. Read less

Great school! I would recommend it highly. Only problem I see is no lockers and the backpacks are ridiculously heavy.

Rising Tide is a great school with small class sizes and a wonderful teaching and office staff. That being said, for some reason there is a huge turnover in teachers and office staff. The school does not seem to be able to keep its employees. Also, there is an incredibly long school day. School

I think that this school is the best one I have ever been to! Other than the fact that there is no lockers, I love it! It sends out monday memo's every monday for you as a parent to see what your child will be doing that week and other important stuff. Also they have band which I play in, as a flute

The only thing (pretty much) that I have aproblem with is the lunch program because it really stinks! Also the school gets out at 3:10 (I think) and I ushaly get off the bus after my younger sister (keyword: younger)! I think the bus ride is very long! And my bus driver is nice but doesn't really pay attention to the kids. Read less

RTCS has a friendly atmosphere, and an academically driven curriculum which enables students to succeed to their full potential. Many students may mention an abundance of homework, however, it is good for them to be motivated to excel. The small class sizes and the caring staff really make this school

In my opinion, RTCS offers the best local educational program for middle school aged students. Of course there are imperfections and flaws, but that naturally occurs in any educational setting. I am satisfied with RTCS and its academic program. Without question, it is the best available educational solution for Plymouth. Read less

RTCS is indeed a great envirment for students to learn I know this first hand. although that is more than I can say for the principle of this school. in my four years at RTCS I have never thought of the principle as being 'fair'. these problems include not listening to the students on how they feel
... Read more on the issues at RTCS. I agree with other post about the amount of homework and heavy backpacks which I have experienced first hand, and find too much homework and too heavy backpacks. I am currently an 8th grader at RTCS and doubt that the necessary changes will occur at RTCS to make it a secure community unless the principle Jill Crafts either steps down or listens to the students and parents and starts reading the school reviews! I think that for grades 5 and 6 RTCS is a great transition to middle school. However grades 7 and 8 for both of my kids have been difficult. My kids are up until 10:pm or later most nights doing homework. They have no life outside of schoolwork. For math homework a typical night is 65 problems .The teachers

A lot of teachers seem to be passing through.. young and inexperianced ones perhaps using RTCS as a stepping stone. A lot do not seem to know how to manage middle schoolers. Enrichment activities however are fantastic. Read less

I have been attending Rising Tide for almost four years now. I cant even begin to explain how great this school is. The classes are so small that you know every student and its so comfortable that no one is shy or afraid to speak. The lunch program is terrific, and the recess is definitely a plus. What

If you think your not doing well most teachers have extra help classes and/or a choice of extra credit. Then theres the halls, this school is just so decorative. Every grade takes part in painting the walls of the school with different pictures during art class. As it isn't popular with PCIS students, I never the less guarantee you will never go to a school as good as Rising Tide. Read less

I am a student at RTCS and it is honestly the best school I have ever seen in my life. The teachers are great and supportive, and the students have built up a sense of community here stronger than any in PCIS. At first I was upset; RTCS is not very popular among the PCIS students, and also I had to leave

I, however, having witnessed my fellow students being disciplined, strongly dissagree with the previous comments about the faults in the disciplinary system. Children can be a lot harsher than you think, and some things need to be disciplined. I have never been in a more strong ,stable, supportive, healthy, community than the one at RTCS. Read less
