They are not a special needs school but they worked with us on our childs individual needs, helped accomadationg on-site tutoring and evaluating whether this was the right educational match for our kids. I found the middle school a great opportunity. If you want ties and testing this is not the school for you but if you want a warm education environment with hands on learning, physical activity, and attention to individual development I would reccommend checking it out. Every family's experience at a particular school can certainly differ; I have a gifted child at this school who is appropriately challenged by his teachers and is given endless opportunities during his school day (and beyond!) to learn, grow, and excel. Touchstone is a place where kids love to learn and develop the skills, creativity and self-knowledge to thrive throughout their educational career. The middle school is academically challenging yet supportive, and the kids practice leadership through working with younger students and on hiking expeditions

It may not be for everyone - it does not have a special ed. program, or competitive athletics (phys. ed. focuses on skills and lifelong fitness) - but they work well with students with a variety of learning styles. ... Read more a problem, parents must pursue evaluations on their own and find their own tutors. If a child excels, there is no encouragement or avenue for the child to develop his talents; this must be pursued at home. The small size makes attention to the children's social and emotional development possible, but it can be smothering for some children. The fact that Touchstone has a retention committee attests to the school's recognition that it has a problem. Read less

This school is what all schools should be,completely dedicated to creating life long learners. This is done through the right balance of academics, social emotional learning, critical thinking and individualized teaching. I wish all children could experience Touchstone.

Really caring environment. Learning is integrated so even though the structure is less, the learning is phenomenal. Respect is a strong theme and the older student program really support kids through the middle school years.

Advanced Placement
AP classes are college-level classes offered at the high school level. Once a student completes an AP class and passes a final comprehensive examination conducted by the College Board, the student earns college credit for the course. AP classes are specific and not to be confused with other higher-level classes such as honors classes.
Before/After School

Special Education Classes
A school or program within a school that provides services and training to students with moderate to severe mental and/or physical disabilities.
Adult Education Classes
Programs offering GED or equivalent courses for adults within regular schools, whether classes are held during evening or daytime schedules.
English as Second Language
English language classes for students whose first language is not English.
