My daughter attends the Whittier and although it is listed as a school in need, my child is doing very well, she gets all A's and B's in her report card, in my opinion. The parents should get more involved with their child and their assignments. This will help the students to bo a better job if someone
... Read more is interested in what they are doing each day. This will also help them to be more responsible for their work. The only thing I think the Whittier should offer is extended programs for parents who work until 5.00 pm. Read less

I did have postiive experiences with the teachers, however communication with students parents of preschool and kindergarten to 1 st grade is really lacking to say the least. The women whom works the front office is very unfreindly..and as a parent that is not acceptable, I am thrilled to get my daughter out as we are moving. ... Read more always got better. We had the proper guidance counseling and were taught from right to wrong. I recommend this school to just about anyone! These have been the best years of my life so why wouldn't they be for your kids? Even though Ill be attending Everett High next year, i just want to say that there will always be a place in my heart for the Sumner G Whittier. Best of all she is the one who wanted to go there, she was motivated by teachers and staff. Every little bit of positive influence helps. I don't see it very much anymore. * In 2007-2008 Massachusetts used the Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System (MCAS) to test students in grades 3 though 8 and 10 in English language arts and math, and in grades 5 and 8 in science. Advanced Placement
AP classes are college-level classes offered at the high school level.
