... Read more this school was not academically strong, but I think that is due to the lack of parents participation in reminding the students of the importance of education. Coming now from a topped ranked high school, it is the parents (and the tax payers money) that really makes a great school. In my opinion Salmen does a great job with what they have been giving. It is the only high school that where almost every student fits in, within the first two weeks. Read less

Great school, great administration, --the entire school is like one big family. I graduated from salmen and currently have 1 child in the ninth grade academy there. My oldest daughter graduated last year and is now attending lsu (and has a 4.0) Majoring in education to go back and teach at the school.

We chose to move into Salmen's district just so our children could attend this school. Small class sizes; one-on-one attention; excellent administration & staff. Both of them graduated post-katrina (2006 & 2007). We are so grateful to all who were involved in their educationional experience. They

I attribute my kids' respect for racial diversity and love of culture, to Salmen and the family atmosphere that they create. I only see bigger and better accomplishments for this school. I will be graduating from Salmen this year. our school and ourselves have been through so much and its amazing to see how much love and high spirits we all have for our school. salmen is a home away from home and a family away from family and that is how the students, faculty, and parents all feel. yes,

Read more our education standards may be a tad lower academically, but salmen teaches more than that.. it teaches closness, family, and friendship like a school should. after the hurricane, we were moved from school to school, loosing classmates, but salmen is coming back with more activities and closness than ever. * In 2007-2008 Louisiana used the Graduate Exit Examination for the 21st Century (GEE 21) to test grade 10 students in math and English language arts and grade 11 students in science and social studies. Advanced Placement
