The parents compare this school to other schools in Louisiana and think it's great, but what they don't see is that in comparison to other schools in the country, it's at the bottom of the list. I could never ask for a better school. I will be a Senior next year and I am very sad that I will be leaving. This school has taught me so much. Even though the are pretty on top of disipline, as long as you follow the rules, you will be ok.

We have four children and three are now graduates of PHS. Our first child just graduated from LSU's Manship School of Communication, was #1 in her class and is already employed full time in her chosen profession. Our second child is a junior at SLU and has a 3.6+ GPA and our third child just finished
... Read more her first semester at LSU in Baton Rouge with a 3.7 GPA. They all enjoyed going to PHS and were involved in extra curricular activities. Did I mention that all three received TOPS scholarships saving us (and them) big money? Is PHS a good school. Their performance after graduation speaks for itself. Read less

Yes the teachers are good, but they pay more attention to discipline and dress code. The extra activities are great. I do enjoy going to school there but the principle is not my favorite person. She shows no enjoyment in being around kids.

This school is always on top of disipline. They have a large variety of extracurruliar activities. My child thinks the uniforms are great because you don't have to choose what you wear,you wear same thing just about.

Ponchatoula to me is a very average high school. They are extremely focused on discipline, possibly more than their academics. I find that the teachers are very dull and have very bad attitudes towards students.

I attended and graduated from Ponchatoula High School. From there I attended and graduated from Southeastern Louisiana University with a Bachelor of Science degree and some work toward a graduate degree. Ponchatoula High School totally prepared me for my educational advancement and what was to come.

I now live in Seattle Washington and I'm always comparing the education I received from Ponchatoula High then with the education students receive here today, and I still say that I was more prepared to the meet the professional world than most students I speak with today are. Thanks Ponchatoula High for giving me what I needed to move on successfully. Continue the great work of educational excellence. I still track and monitor your test scores and they look great. * In 2007-2008 Louisiana used the Graduate Exit Examination for the 21st Century (GEE 21) to test grade 10 students in math and English language arts and grade 11 students in science and social studies. The GEE 21 is a high school graduation requirement. The GEE 21 is a standards-based test, which means it measures specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Louisiana. The goal is for all students to score at or above basic on the test.

Advanced Placement
AP classes are college-level classes offered at the high school level. Adult Education Classes
Programs offering GED or equivalent courses for adults within regular schools, whether classes are held during evening or daytime schedules.
English as Second Language
English language classes for students whose first language is not English.
