Castor has been and remains the best school in Bienville Parish. However, coming from a small school and going to a large university for college was a bit of a wake-up call. I was valedictorian at Castor and graduated from college with honors and have completed my master's. Our exposure was limited
... Read more due to the fact that we were a small school. I found that students from larger schools had the opportunity to take college coursework while in high school. They also had music, art, band, choir, etc. Castor has made strides over the last few years to offer more programs for the students and I applaude them for that. Now as the parent of a student at Castor, I would offer one suggestions: SCHOOL UNIFORMS. I am very disappointed when I visit the school & see low riders, hip-huggers, and sagging clothes on our students. It makes the entire school look bad. Read less

CHS is the best! Castor High is a great school. My children graduated from Castor and have now completed college. They were very well prepared to go to the next level. I attended Castor High School for 14 years. I loved being in a small school surrounded by a small community where everyone cares for each other. Castor High School is very laid back and everyone knows everyone else, so it is easy for everyone to be comfortable in their environment. Castor is also great
... Read more academically. It helped me pursue my career in Pediatric Nursing. I was very prepared coming into college, because of the education I recieved at Castor. My first year of college seemed to be a review of high school. (and LSUS is supposed to be the hardest college in Louisiana!) There are many clubs and organizations offered, and I was involved with each one while still maintaining a 3.9 GPA. 3/4 of my class graduated with a GPA above 3.0. Castor does not have a hard curriculum, but helps students prepare for their future. Read less

I am a also a student at Castor, I believe that this school is academically well-off. It really is an awesome and rare occurence that you attend a school where you know everyone in your school, PreK-12. I would definitely reccomend this school to anyone considering attending.

* In 2007-2008 Louisiana used the Graduate Exit Examination for the 21st Century (GEE 21) to test grade 10 students in math and English language arts and grade 11 students in science and social studies. Advanced Placement
